Dear Editor,

A brief admonition to the college community: If you are hosting guests from out of town, and you escort your guests, intoxicated, to an off-campus function, then you are responsible for their actions. I refer to an incident this past weekend in which an intoxicated guest ripped a possum down from a tree, slammed its body against the cement and proceeded to stomp it to death. Not only is this irresponsible host behavior, it can be processed as a felony in the state of California (CA PENAL ยง 597).
