As you may already know, 19 students have been slapped with RIAA settlement letters at Oxy. Some of these amount to over a semester's tuition.

Are you intimidated yet? If it weren't for the title of this article, you might think it was a warning sign to "filesharers" (whom, I guarantee, constitute the majority of readers of the Weekly). You might think it was an addendum to Ethan Bearman's terrifying email last week, which told us to "take this seriously!" With all due respect, Mr. Bearman, if you were our age, you would be downloading all the files you could get your paws on, as long as you could find safe ways to do it.

So I was chillin' in my dorm room, listening to Kanye West's Graduation, when I started thinking about one of the most pressing issues of our time-namely, whether Lil' Wayne is really the best rapper alive.

Coke and Pepsi. Itchy and Scratchy. Red Sox and Yankees. Macs and PC's. There are certain things in life that are just fundamentally opposed to each other.

On Oxy's campus, the most notable rivalry exists between the latter category, each side consistently proclaiming their own superiority. This rivalry seems only to be intensifying as Apple becomes more competitive within the market-what with the new iPhone craze and the ever-evolving iPod. This increase in popularity only solidifies the many reasons why owning a Apple computer simply beats functioning in the outdated world of PC's.

Each professor has a different teaching style-some like to lecture while others prefer to let students facilitate discussions-but with tuition fees exceeding $30,000 a year, what exactly are you paying for when you walk into a classroom? While student-led discussions can often provide you with the perspective of another college student, many people think the instruction is best left to the paid professional.

I've lived in the Pasadena area since I was eight and casually frequented it when I got my license. When I transferred to Occidental, I found it peculiar how excited people got over Old Town. It slowly crept under my skin whenever my college friends would announce that they were planning a trip to Old Town. They treated it like a brief vacation to the city.

After the multiple events celebrating Banned Books Week on campus at the start of this month, I assumed that the Oxy administration was opposed to censorship. Through the actions taken by Naddia Palacios to silence Women's Center residents on the move to Stewie, however, I see now that I was obviously wrong.

Can't wait for Max Weidman's sequel to his terrific "Westside Frontin'"!! It doesn't get much more original than making fun of people with bluetooth headsets!
