When Lorrenzo Wade withdrew from the 2008 NBA Draft in mid-May, a sense of shock didn't spread across San Diego State.

The men's basketball team's forward did exactly what was expected of him. It appeared Wade tested the draft's waters, determined he wasn't a first round pick and returned to school for his senior season.

Nobody seemed to notice that he never stepped foot on the boat.

Former Cal Poly standout Sharon Day qualified Friday night in the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. for the U.S. Olympic team in the women's high jump.

"It feels amazing," Day said in a statement. "It's kind of like a dream.

This weekend marks the beginning of the swimming and track and field U.S. Olympic Trials where several Trojan athletes are looking to secure their spots on the U.S. Olympic team. The swimming trials run from June 29 through July 6, while the track and field trials run from June 27 through July 6.

It's been a big week for USC senior soccer player Amy Rodriguez.

While her USC teammates were honored at the White House for winning the 2007 National Championship, Rodriguez was named to the U.S. Women's Soccer Olympic Team on Monday.

"I thought winning the national championship was good and a long shot," Rodriguez said to USC Sports Information.
